Nelson Amador
Nelson and Tanya began traveling to Nicaragua as a couple in 1992 and have since made more than 100 trips to Latin America. Together they have built the mission from a good idea into an exciting adventure to attempt great things for God in numerous countries in Latin America. With the support of their church, various Board and Committee members, and especially their families, they have constructed the mission, piece by piece, beginning with no place to stay or serve in Nelson’s hometown of San Ramon, Nicaragua, or office in the U.S. aside from their own home. Tanya’s background in the auction business (her family owns MBA Auction in Renton, WA) led Corner of Love to begin holding an annual charity auction gala and she draws on business experience from mortgage banking to lead the organization. Nelson was a draft pick for Major League Baseball, ready to train in Puerto Rico before the revolution broke out and foiled his plans to play shortstop. His longtime employment with Safeway as a Meat Cutter allowed him to volunteer for close to twenty years before becoming Director of Operations for Corner of Love.
