Nelson Amador, Director of Operations/Nicaragua & Worldwide Development

Since 1992 Nelson & Tanya have been traveling to San Ramón, Nicaragua, Nelson’s hometown and birthplace and cities throughout Latin America where they have built deep-rooted, native solidarity for the mission. Presently, both are focused on equipping Team and Region Leaders around the world and helping transition the organization into a multi-national ministry, while also concentrating on program development in new countries like Honduras, Colombia, and the U.S.

Nelson maintains COL facilities and manages in-country staff, helping create a safe and functional environment for teams and programs. He also works with village leaders, native pastors, and clinic coordinators to plan for Corner of Love activities that serve thousands each year.

Tanya speaks fluent French, Spanish, and English and enjoys using her multi-cultural background to help grow Corner of Love. Her goals include advancement of broad ministerial objectives, such as creating disciples in the nations and deepening spiritual relationships of participants. She heads Corner of Love’s social business projects, non-profit systems, resource development, and chapter building. Since 2018 she is also involved in diplomacy efforts and engages with many agencies and governments in pursuit of sustainable help for exiled individuals and vulnerable migrants.

Current areas of focus for the two include completion of the organization’s infrastructure in Costa Rica, the organization’s expansion into Honduras and Colombia, and the opening of Hero’s Kitchen Restaurant (run by refugees) near the Nicaragua border.

Tanya and Nelson reside between Costa Rica, Houston, and Seattle, Washington, where they raised their four children. Their kids have been traveling to Nicaragua since they were babies and now help by recruiting teams, fundraising, translating, scribing, working in the pharmacy, and promoting the mission in their areas.
